As we know, healing from an eating disorder is nonlinear. It requires assistance and ongoing support from professionals with training and someone who is uniquely dedicated to the specialty of eating disorder recovery. My role as a coach is to provide day-to-day support and help individuals reach their recovery goals.
My role also includes supporting individuals in returning to life and school, helping them develop a good relationship with food through meal sessions, and helping them understand the keys to recovery from an eating disorder.
I am competent in various settings, including outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization programs, CAMHS, and online and residential settings. I work with adults and adolescents of all genders through individualized and informed care. I focus on their strengths and look for ways to develop strategies that will work for them in managing any triggers.
For me, the rewarding part of working with individuals struggling with eating disorders is that I can help someone find freedom from their disease. Also, I can walk them through painful moments when they want to give up!
